2010 RBC GranFondo Whistler

Inaugural RBC GranFondo Whistler

124.52 km, 5 hrs 48 mins cycling
21.32 kph average speed
6hrs 25 mins lunching and lounging total time
max speed 65.19
(Suzanne’s stats.  Olin let his Garmin run dry and lost his info)

4000 riders, a beautifully swept road to Whistler, no stops for bikes, cool weather but no rain, it was a perfect inaugural event.  I had my doubts… but was able to make it just fine.

The big uphills:  Taylor Way – very steep;  Furry Creek – better than expected;  Britannia – very steep;  Squamish hill – 10 km long and a grind.  The organizers kept everything running smoothly.  The field was happy and most people completed the event.
