Heidelberg Germany – Rest day

Heidelberg university started in the 1300’s and has been intimately a part of the city ever since. (Oxford and Cambridge are both older according to the young couple from Stuttgart who we met at dinner, he having attended Cambridge.)

The faculties are housed in various historic buildings throughout the city, indistinguishable from other buildings. The way a university should be.

Beautiful old city entirely a pedestrian zone so that even bikes have to be walked. Many outdoor seats but they are empty because it is COLD.
