We had a good look around SSM waterfront this morning, including having a good time watching the locks fill up and a police boat move through. Left town at about 11.00.

The score today, wind 1 Antons 0.

The winds were E and SE. We were travelling E and SE. Winds were 19, gusting to 31 according to the weather channel. The road was tough too, too little shoulder much of the way and heavy traffic. Some areas had no shoulder at all, others had about a foot of asphalt, then “rumbled” it, so no prospect of riding on the shoulder. It makes me quite disgusted with the TCH planners. Does no one ride a bike? Not cross-Canada riders, how about neighbours?

Other than that, it was a warm day and pretty scenery – just too hard to enjoy it. No farms at all between Thunder Bay and Sault Ste Marie, but now we’re back in farming country.

We were planning to get to Thessalon but gave up at Bruce Mines.
